Best Electric Cutting Machines for Scrapbooking

A few weeks ago I detailed the most popular and used cutting machines in scrapbooking. If you missed the post, you can take a look by clicking here.

Today I want to detail other cutting machines, but this time the electric ones, which need a power outlet, a computer and software to cut the different materials.

Best Electric Cutting Machines for Scrapbooking

As with manual cutting machines, electric ones also need dies to cut, but these will not take up space since they are “virtual” and are purchased online. They are saved in the machine’s computer or software. In addition, its price is much cheaper and if you like to design, you can make your own designs. Each design usually costs around $1.

Furthermore, electric cutting machines are not limited to cutting paper, they also cut other materials such as cloth, vinyl, cardboard, cardstock, silicone, etc. If you like crafts in general and not just scrapbooking, a machine with these characteristics may turn out to be the best option.

You can cut paper and cardstock for scrapbooking, you can also cut silicone to make your own stamps, adhesive to make labels, fabric if you do patchwork, etc.

I’m not going to go into detail about the characteristics of each of these machines. Today’s post aims to give you a global vision of what you can find on the market.

This is undoubtedly the most used machine and by far the one that offers the most variety of accessory materials.

Cuts paper, fabric, vinyl, etc. You can also draw and cut the drawings made. Being one of the best selling machines on the market right now, it’s very easy to find spare parts for cutting mat, blade, etc. This is an advantage worth taking into account when thinking about purchasing an electric cutting machine.

It’s also available in two sizes: the Silhouette Cameo that cuts 30.5×30.5cm paper and the Portrait that cuts a smaller measure of 20.3×30.5cm.

Final word

If you are planning on buying any of these machines, I personally recommend the Silhouette brand. Where it’s the Cameo or the Portrait, the only difference between the two is the cutting surface and obviously the price.

Why do I recommend the Silhouette? Very easy. Because it’s the brand most in demand, especially in the US. When you have to buy spare parts for the blade or accessory products such as vinyl, you can easily buy them online.
